Child Safety action plan deadline approaching
Child Safety Standards Action Plans Round 2 are due to be submitted to the Churchwide Office by 31 March 2025.
The Child Safety Standards online portal is now live and can be accessed from www.lca.org.au/child-safety-standards
The online portal is where congregations submit either:
- a Child Safety ‘No Children’ Assurance or
- a Child Safety Self-Assessment and Child Safety Standards Action Plan.
All congregations are expected to make a submission by 31 March 2025. If your submission is not going to be ready in time please get in touch with Child Safety Standards Implementation Support Officer, Nicole Hall (see below for contact details).
Importantly, the Child Safety Standards for Congregations have been reviewed and updated for Round 2. Tools and guide documents to assist you in this process have also been updated. They can be found on the Child Safety Standards webpage and include:
- Child Safety Standards Self-Assessment and Action Plan Guidelines
- Video – How to use the online portal to submit a Child Safety ‘No Children’ Assurance
- Video – How to use the online portal to submit a Child Safety Self-Assessment
- Examples of final PDF for both Self-Assessment and Action Plan
- Suggestions and tips for Child Safety Assessors
- Self-Assessment ‘Notetaker’.
Hopefully, church councils are currently reviewing their Self-Assessments and developing their Child Safety Standards Action Plans. During March, church councils will need to approve finalised Child Safety Standards Action Plans and submit them to the Churchwide Office.
Assessors and church councils requiring assistance are encouraged to contact Nicole Hall, Child Safety Standards Implementation Support Officer, at nicole.hall@lca.org.au or 0491 911 643.
