Welcome to July’s Work Health and Safety matters.
This month’s calendar item relates to your church property and contents insurance.
You may have already received your insurance bill for the year. Please remember to check that you have the appropriate level of cover for your church building, all contents and don’t forget other church properties you own.
It is a good idea each year to go around and take photos of your church building contents. Open each cupboard and take a photo of the contents. These photos should be stored on a USB or safe place – not on church premises – so that they can be accessed in the event of an emergency. If you ever need to submit an insurance claim these photos can assist in showing your insurer what your property looked like or what contents you had.
Further to this, an inventory should be completed of all items in the church and hall. How many chairs do you have? How many cables are stored in the music room? How many cups are in the kitchen?
