WH&S: your November tip
Welcome to Work Health and Safety matters for November. This month we want congregations to start thinking about their storage areas.
As you begin getting Christmas items out of storage or even finishing off programs for the year now is a good time to have a clean out of your storage areas and disposing of any items that are no longer needed. This could include sheds, storage rooms, cupboards, kitchen areas and possibly Sunday School or craft cupboards. Check that all things you keep are in good working order (don’t forget to test textas that might be getting old too), to have a clean out of toys that are in your cry room or playgroup area, clean up craft supplies ready to replenish for the next year and just generally tidy things up that may not have been put back carefully.
It is also a good time to do a stocktake of any catering equipment or kitchen equipment you have and replace any broken items. Do a count of plates, knives, forks, cups etc and organise to replace anything that is running low.
And don’t forget when you put things back into storage make sure you allow room for the Christmas decorations that will need to be stored again in the new year!
