Concordia celebrates 126 years
Concordia Lutheran Church in Loxton celebrated their 126th Anniversary on Saturday 14 & Sunday 15 May 2022.
Former and present pastors joined church members and friends at the church on Saturday for the launch of the book Concord in Concordia. The book gives a brief history of the church from its inception in 1896 to present-day 2022 and was compiled by historians Carla and Peter Magarey. After being welcomed by Mayor Leon Stasinowsky, guests listened to Carla and Peter as they spoke about the preparation of the book. Mara Rada then gave a brief talk on her experience translating the minutes written in German to English, before the book was officially launched by Pastor Neville Kriewaldt. Copies of the book were then presented to the returning and current ministers, including Neville Kriewaldt (1964-1969), Ross Schultz (1970-1973), Rob Strelan (1980-1985), Darrin Kohrt (2006 to present), Chris Georg (2001 to present), Avito da Costa (2020 to present) and Stephen Noblett, a past vicar. Guests perused the memorabilia on display, reminisced and enjoyed a Devonshire afternoon tea and a sausage sizzle.
A thanksgiving service was held at the church on Sunday where the returning and current ministers led the service and Pastor Rob Strelan delivered a very uplifting sermon. Lunch followed at the Loxton Club where everyone was given the opportunity to say a few words.
